Description
The Mechanically Deposited zinc Coating process of hex bolts is strictly performed in accordance with ASTM B695-00 standards. This standard is specification for coatings of Zinc mechanically deposited on iron and steel. So it also applies to hex bolts made of steel. This specification covers the requirements for a coating of zinc mechanically deposited on iron and steel basis metals. The coating is provided in several thicknesses up to and including 107 um.The seven thickest classes are usually referred to as ”mechanically galvanized”.
Grade 2 hex bolts hex cap screws are produced from mild or medium carbon steel and can be used as general purpose applications fasteners. They have a minimum tensile strength of 60 ksi, a minimum Rockwell hardness of B69, and a Class 2A thread fit. Economical for use in non-critical applications where the fastener is not subject to extreme temperatures or stress beyond the limits listed. US grade 2 hex bolt hex cap screw is equivalent to GB 4.8 grade(CN grade) bolts, US grade 5 hex bolt is equivalent to GB 8.8 grade bolts, and US grade 8 hex bolt is equivalent to GB 10.9 grade bolts. Generally, the corresponding production materials are Q235 (US grade 2); 35# steel (US grade 5); 40Gr (US grade 8), and then use corresponding heat treatment to obtain corresponding tensile strength bolts.
Comparison between mechanical galvanized and electro-galvanized
1.The coating of mechanical galvanized is uniform thickness, dense structure, less pores, and better corrosion resistance than electroplating zinc layer, but the appearance is not as smooth and bright as electroplating zinc layer, and the production cost is not higher than electroplating.
2.Hydrogen embrittlement is common in high-strength steel after electroplating, which cannot be eliminated even if treated, seriously affecting product quality; while after mechanical galvanizing, the hydrogen embrittlement phenomenon can completely disappear after being left naturally for 24-48 hours or kept at 150°C.
